Our grapes
Cyprus boasts a unique terroir that has nurtured the cultivation of grapes for thousands of years, making it one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world. The island's diverse landscape, ranging from coastal plains to mountainous areas, provides a variety of microclimates ideal for viticulture. The combination of abundant sunshine, minimal rainfall, and a long growing season allows grapes to ripen perfectly, infusing them with intense flavors and aromas.
Indigenous Grape Varieties:
Xinisteri: This white grape variety is widely grown and known for producing fresh, aromatic wines with flavors of citrus and green apples, often featuring a pleasant mineral finish.
Mavro: As one of the most common red grape varieties in Cyprus, Mavro is typically used in producing both red and rosé wines, offering mild flavors and a soft body that pairs well with local cuisine.
Maratheftiko: Also known as Vamvakada, this less common red grape is prized for its ability to produce robust, deeply colored wines with complex aromas of red fruits and spices, often benefiting from oak aging to enhance its structure and depth.
