LionSpirit Winery & Distillery, formerly known as Lambouri Winery, boasts a rich and storied history that dates back over 350 years, making it one of the most venerable wine and spirit producers in Cyprus. Founded in the lush vineyards of Cyprus, it began as a humble enterprise dedicated to capturing the essence of the local terroir through traditional winemaking techniques. As it passed through the hands of successive generations, each contributed to the evolution and growth of the winery, slowly building its reputation for quality and craftsmanship.

History

By the early 20th century, Lambouri Winery had expanded its production capabilities and begun to cement its reputation within the local community and beyond. The winery thrived by adhering to time-honored winemaking practices while gradually integrating innovations that enhanced both the quality and diversity of its offerings.

Beginning of 2000 marked a period of significant change for the winery, as it embraced modernization with the introduction of new vinification technologies and sustainable practices. These changes were pivotal in improving the quality of its products and expanding its market reach. It was during this time that the winery began to explore beyond traditional wine production, setting the stage for future innovations.

From 2019 onwards, the winery underwent a steady rebranding, emerging as LionSpirit Winery & Distillery. This new identity signaled a broader focus, embracing the distillation of spirits alongside winemaking. LionSpirit quickly distinguished itself by becoming the first distillery in Cyprus to produce Gin and Whisky, pioneering these categories on the island and leading the local industry in spirits innovation.

Today, LionSpirit is renowned not only for its spirits but also as one of the largest and most acclaimed producers of Commandaria, a historic dessert wine that is a hallmark of Cypriot viticulture. The winery combines centuries-old methods with modern techniques, producing a Commandaria that is celebrated for its depth and complexity.
